Following the merger of Galaxy Resources and Orocobre Limited, Designate completed a rebrand and naming process, culminating in the design and development of a comprehensive new corporate website.
Designate was tasked with creating a website for Allkem that accurately reflected the new brand positioning, and enabled website visitors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the new company. As a speciality lithium chemicals company with diverse global assets and a commitment to long-term social, environmental and economic sustainability, it was important that the content, visual design and overall user experience was shaped in a way that effectively conveyed this narrative.
Selection and implementation of an appropriate content management system and hosting platform was another challenge we faced. Allkem required a fast, secure, and reliable platform that empowered editors to publish content easily without developer support.
The new website’s content and information architecture (IA) was informed by conducting a thorough audit of both Galaxy and Orocobre’s website, which was then followed by a gap analysis (what content was missing, what content needed to be re-written in context of the new entity?). We then produced high fidelity wireframes to assist Allkem with their content planning. The wireframes also allowed our development team to define the website framework, CMS infrastructure and requirements for build.
With a brand identity like no other in its market, Allkem needed to be strongly represented on its primary channel - the website. The bold use of colour, powerful imagery and media set the foundations for an engaging user interface (UI) design.
An interactive map was introduced to showcase Allkem’s diverse and unique lithium asset portfolio.
Designate recommended the adoption of a headless architecture to support Allkem’s business requirements and enable scalability for the future. For the CMS we implemented Dato CMS, an editor-friendly product that handles media flawlessly for content-heavy websites.
The website launched the same morning the company started trading as Allkem (AKE) on the ASX.
